Rep. Allen Pleads Not Guilty To Sex Charge

Official Accused Of Soliciting Undercover Officer

POSTED: Thursday, August 23, 2007
UPDATED: 1:26 pm EDT August 23, 2007

State Rep. Bob Allen on Thursday entered a not guilty plea on charges that he solicited an undercover officer for sex in a Brevard County park bathroom.

Allen claims he went to the bathroom on July 11 to avoid a lightning storm.

He said he knocked on the door of the officer's stall to see if he was OK. Allen said he agreed to a sex act because he feared he was going to be robbed.

Allen also said that he was planning on going to a Kennedy Space Center guard post to get help. Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported that the nearest guard post to the bathroom is 8 miles away.
