Teen charged with robbery with firearm and mask, attempted murder

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 14-year-old boy was arrested and charged in connection to an armed robbery and shooting that took place Thursday morning at an Orlando business.

The shooting happened around 7 a.m. Thursday at OU Metal Recycling on Ellman Street near Orange Blossom Trail and Silver Star Road.

According to deputies, the owner of a scrap yard was robbed by three people, one of whom stayed in the getaway car. The others, who may have been wearing masks, robbed and shot the owner, deputies said.

The business owner was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where he is currently listed in stable condition.

Thursday night, detectives arrested Joshua Leaster, 14, charging him with robbery with a firearm and mask and attempted murder.

Deputies said Leaster was believed to be the driver of the vehicle used in the robbery.
