ORLANDO, Fla. -- A Central Florida elementary school teacher was arrested for driving under the influence on her way to morning classes, according to police.
Police said Vicki Tucker was taken into custody in the parking lot of West Oaks Elementary School after witnesses said they saw her car swerving in the road and bouncing off curbs.
Tucker, who teaches emotionally challenged students, had bloodshot eyes and was slurring her speech when she was approached by officers, according to investigators.
Police said they found a cold but empty beer can inside the vehicle, along with several bottles of medication -- including oxycodone and xanex.
Tucker told officers that she had just learned she was suffering from a terminal disease, WKMG reported.
Investigators said Tucker failed a field sobriety test before she was arrested.
