Police: Sex Predator Attacked Women In Parking Garage

Passers-By Hear Screams, Rescue Women

POSTED: Thursday, September 20, 2007
UPDATED: 5:13 pm EDT September 20, 2007

A registered sexual predator was arrested early Thursday morning, accused by police of attacking two woman inside a downtown parking garage and attempting to rape one of them.

Roger Dale Reynolds, 34, of Orlando, was charged with attempted sexual battery and battery following the incident at the parking garage, located at 112 E. Central Blvd. near East Pine Street and North Magnolia Avenue.

According to Orlando police, Reynolds got into an elevator of the parking garage with two women at about 3:30 a.m. and pushed one of the women out when the elevator reached the second story. Reynolds also exited the elevator and began attacking the woman, attempting to rip her clothes off, according to Orlando police.

After the elevator doors reopened, the other woman got out and attempted to get Reynolds off her friend, according to an Orlando police report. Reynolds struck her in the face multiple times, so she screamed for help, the report stated.

Four passers-by heard the screams and assisted the women, pushing Reynolds to the ground and pinning him down until police arrived, according to the report.

"I think it's horrible that two women (who were) probably trying to go to their car after enjoying whatever they were doing downtown last night, and you have a predator -- that's whey they're called sexual predators -- that attacked one of them," Barbara Jones of the Orlando Police Department said. "The other (woman) tried to get help for her by getting in there herself and help and she gets punched in the face."

Reynolds was on early-inmate release for sexual battery and is registered as a sexual predator.
