DeLAND, Fla. -- Police in DeLand are looking for a man who they said attempted to abduct a girl who was walking to her bus stop on Monday morning.
According to police, the girl was approached by the man about 9 a.m. in the 500 block of South Adelle when he grabbed her by the arms and tried to pull her into nearby bushes.
The girl managed to get away and was not injured, police said.
A composite sketch of the man, who was described as in his 40s or 50s, about 6 feet tall, between 130 and 150 pounds with black hair, a scruffy beard and bloodshot eyes, was released on Monday afternoon. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeved red shirt and dirty jeans, DeLand police said.
Police said they are also searching for an older model white van that has a dent in its rear bumper and no windows. It is not known if the van was related to the incident.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
