Wanted Man Calls, Taunts Officers

POSTED: Friday, November 2, 2007
UPDATED: 9:56 am EDT November 2, 2007

A Central Florida man suspected of preying on senior citizens is placing taunting phone calls to officers trying to track him down, according to police.

Kissimmee police said Marvin Lewis, 57, recently stole $42,000 from a 72-year-old widow and other women in Central Florida.

Officers believe Lewis is the person behind recent taunting phone calls to crime investigators.

"I was just in your area yesterday at the Applebee's on Osceola Parkway (and) I thought about you," the caller said. "You said all this stuff about putting me in jail. Did you ever figure out what my real name is or my new name? Have fun."

Kissimmee investigator Tim Fisher said Lewis began calling him when he was not at work and leaving taunting messages.

"It is getting a little aggravating, yes," Fisher said. "He is calling and leaving me phones messages saying basically catch me if you can."

Fisher said he believes Lewis is looking for his next victim.

Police said Lewis apparently lives in Polk County or somewhere south of the county. They also said he may have Ohio tags on his vehicle.

Anyone who has information concerning Lewis' whereabouts is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
