Store Clerk Attacked With Canned Food
Attack Caught On Surveillance Video

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Portland police are asking for help in identifying a man who attacked a convenience store clerk with canned food.
Police said the man was intoxicated when he walked into a Plaid Pantry store at about 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 23, KPTV-TV in Portland reported.
The man tried to buy beer, but the clerk refused to sell to him, the television station reported.
Police said the man became enraged, picking up cans of beans and sweet peas and hurling them at the clerk.
The cans hit the clerk in the face and stomach and also broke a window. Police said the man then chased the clerk through the store.
Several people who were with him were eventually able to restrain the man. They all left in a dark-colored Dodge truck or sport utility vehicle, the television station reported.
The victim suffered facial bruises, lacerations and an eye fracture.
The man responsible for the attack is described as Asian, possibly a Pacific Islander, 25 to 30 years old and 5 feet, 8 inches tall. He weighs about 190 pounds and has long black hair worn in ponytails.
During the attack, he wore a white tank top and light-colored, baggy pants and dark shoes.
Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case. If you have information, call 503-823-4357.
