Depression, Not Sinkhole, Closes I-95 Lane

Crews Repair Leaking Drainage Pipe

The right northbound lane of Interstate 95 near state Road 520 in Cocoa will remain closed through Wednesday afternoon while workers repair a damaged section of roadway.

Construction crews found a depression in a section of Interstate 95, Steve Homan, a spokesman for the Department of Transportation, told Local 6 News partner Florida Today.

Crews are repairing a leaking drainage pipe that washed away the ground under the road and caused the depression in the pavement, Homan said.

It is not a sinkhole as previously reported, he said.
