A Polk County sheriff's detention deputy was arrested on Monday after she was accused by authorities of sitting on her ex-girlfriend until she would talk to her.
Lara Dix, 27, was arrested on charges of false imprisonment, domestic violence battery and criminal mischief after an investigation revealed she battered her ex-girlfriend, Polk County sheriff's deputies said.
Dix and Moore recently broken up after dating as girlfriends for two years, deputies said.
According to an affidavit, Ashley Moore arrived at her Lake Wales home on Sunday and found her bedroom ransacked.
Moore called Dix and asked her if she was responsible for the incident, and Dix said she was, deputies said. Moore told Dix to clean up the mess but then changed her mind and told her not to come over, according to the affidavit.
Dix went to Moore's home and a verbal argument escalated when Dix grabbed a necklace and ripped it off of Moore's neck, deputies said. Moore also told authorities that Dix pulled her by her shirt, forcing her to go outside, and then Dix sat on her, not allowing her to move, until Moore agreed to talk to her.
Dix was arrested and booked into the Polk County Jail.
Dix was hired full-time at the Polk County Sheriff's Office in 2002 as a Detention Support Specialist and became a detention deputy assigned to the Central County Jail in November 2003.
She has been placed on administrative leave without pay, pending a termination procedure.
