A woman sitting in her car near a gas pump at an Orlando convenience store was pepper-sprayed and robbed of $6,000, according to police.

The incident happened on Thursday at 2:09 p.m. at the Citgo, located at 520 S. Orange Blossom Trail.

According to police, a man approached the woman, sprayed her in the face and snatched her purse, which was located next to her inside the vehicle.

The man ran away and headed westbound on Colyer Street, Orlando police said.

The woman's purse was a brown Luis Vuitton bag valued at about $1,700, and it contained $6,000.

The woman later identified the assailant from a photo taken by surveillance cameras inside the Citgo, and police are seeking the public's help in locating the man.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the Orlando Police Department or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
