Man Running From Calif. to Fla.

PALM HARBOR, Fla. -- A man from Florida's Gulf Coast is running across the country to raise money for child advocacy centers.

Tom Bassano of Palm Harbor is running from California to Florida.

Since March 2, the 37-year-old propane technician has run about 380 miles.

He's not running alone.

His wife and three children are his support team while he's legging it on the road.

Bassano said he was spurred to raise money for children advocacy centers after his 7-year-old son, who's autistic, got separated from the family in a state park.

The boy was found safe, but Bassano says he remained unsettled by the experience.

Bassano is tracking his progress on his Web site, runfortheinnocent.com. He says he's raised about $5,000 so far.
