Investigators said Jennifer Latham, 39, entered Central Florida Regional Hospital located at 1401 W. Seminole Blvd. in Sanford and attempted to take a baby.

When the parents of the child confronted Latham, she spotted and then abducted another baby.

The woman managed to flee in a blue Chevrolet Blazer with hospital security chasing her.

Minutes after a bulletin was issued to surrounding police agencies, an officer in Lake Mary stopped a blue Chevrolet Blazer on Interstate 4 matching the description.

"Witnesses were brought to the scene by Sanford police investigators and the woman was positively identified as the woman in the hospital video who did in fact take this 1-day-old child," Sanford police Chief Brian Tooley said.

The child was found in the car still clothed in hospital attire and brought back to Central Florida Regional Hospital and reunited with her parents.

"The child is OK and back in custody with his parents," Tooley said. "It is a pretty good day in the city of Sanford."

Tooley said he did not know why the baby was targeted.

The hospital was locked down during the incident
