ORLANDO, Fla. -- A roving group of thieves has been smashing its way into businesses in Central Florida in recent weeks, according to police.
Investigators said the latest crime apparently committed by the group happened at a Family Dollar store located on east Colonial Drive near Goldenrod.
Surveillance video showed the thief breaking through a window and then dragging his body through the glass and into the store.
The men are then seen heading immediately to the safe.
"Obviously, these guys have scoped out the place," Orange County sheriff's Sgt. Neil Mitchell said. "First, they know where the safe is located. They know to remove the safe or get into it so that they are usually successful. They don't often leave without any proceeds."
The men were in and out of the store within 30 seconds.
One of the men caught on surveillance video is about 5 feet tall and weighs nearly 250 pounds. He is balding and in his mid-30s to mid-40s.
He also has brown or reddish hair on the sides of his head.
Detectives said the man likely lives in the area around east Orange County.
