ORNAGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A family whose home caught fire and was destroyed during stormy weather Sunday also lost their home in the same way years ago, Local 6 has learned.
Five adults and three children were in a house located on Dorena Drive near Americana and John Young Parkway at about 5 p.m. when they heard their home alarm system went off.
When they went to the back of the structure, they spotted thick, black smoke and fled, according to family members.
The adults were not able to enter the home to save their belongings because of the fast-moving flames.
The same family had their home burn down in 2001 in the same way, Local 6's Charnel Wright reported.
Lightning is suspected but the state fire marshal is investigating the official cause of the fire.
There were no reported injuries.
