ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Simpsons Ride at Universal Studios Florida will open to the public May 15, park officials announced.The long-anticipated, simulator-based attraction takes riders on a trip through "Krustyland," a theme park named after Simpsons' character "Krusty the Clown."The ride cost an estimated $40 million, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported. The attraction will replace "Back to the Future."The Simpsons Ride was announced about a year ago."They've probably been working on this ride for longer than we know about," said Jerry Aldrich, president of Orlando-based Amusement Industry Consulting. "Any new ride gives you something to advertise about, and 'The Simpsons' is a name everybody understands and knows."The ride will open at Universal Studios Hollywood in California May 17.Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.
