16-year-old arrested in Oviedo car burglaries

Police don't know if suspect was involved with rash of car break-ins

OVIEDO, Fla. - Oviedo police arrested a 16-year-old on charges of committing three vehicle burglaries on Thursday morning.

Police say the arrest was made after a citizen reported seeing a car burglary in progress at 5:25 a.m.  in the 1000 block of Trout Creek Court in Oviedo.

Police arrived and initiated a search for the suspect, who, after he was located, admitted to entering unlocked cars and checking several other cars. Another burglary was reported nearby, in the 1000 block of West Riviera Boulevard.

The teen was arrested and charged with three counts of burglary of a vehicle, but police say it is unknown whether the teen was involved in the rash of Oviedo burglaries this past weekend.

Police have not identified the teen.
