MELBOURNE, Fla. -- An apparent swingers' sex club that has outraged nearby homeowners in a Central Florida neighborhood has been ordered to shut down in two weeks, Local 6 has learned.
Groups of people interested in having sex with multiple partners have recently migrated to a 2,500-square-foot home in the neighborhood located near Turtle Mound Road in Oak Groves, neighbors said.
The home, called The Hunt Club, touts on its Web site group buffet-style dining, group rooms, a stage and dancing pole, swimming pool, and "The Pink Cauldron," a five-person hot tub, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.
After complaints from neighbors prompted police to investigate the home, the city issued the Hunt Club a cease and desist letter.
The city determined the house is being used as a business in a residential neighborhood -- which is against city code.
Neighbors held a protest outside of the club Friday night.
"People are scared," neighbor Larry Groves said. "They are scared of what may happen."
"We just don't know who is coming in here and that is a big concern," a neighbor said. "I have a 2-year-old.
Richard Spaulding, who lives in the controversial house, said he is doing nothing wrong and his neighbors are making a fuss over nothing.
"We are not doing anything illegal and we are just having a party, that is it," Spaulding said. "Chances are because of them and all of the attention they brought on us, we won't probably be able to do (this) much longer or any longer."
"We do respect their sexual preferences that they may have but this is a community and not a business area," Groves said.
