A group of Singaporean tree snakes were filmed by researchers flying more than 300 feet and actually navigating their way through trees, according to a Local 6 News report.
Snakes Filmed Flying More Than 300 Feet
The snakes are able to spring off branches and fly in the air for two or more seconds at a time. They can also glide for more 330 feet in the air and make 90-degree turns in mid flight.
The maneuver allows them to quickly leap between trees, chase aerial prey and avoid predators.
A Chicago researcher said the snakes stay airborne by swimming through the air.
