A reward is being offered for the person who is targeting geese in Vacaville with blow darts after another goose was found with a dart in its head.

A Graylag goose was found walking around with a long dart in its head at Lagoon Valley.

"The dart actually went through the bird's skull and it's a miracle that it didn't hit anything important, but it didn't appear to," said Michelle Bellizzim, a rehabilitation manager.

The injured animal was taken to the International Bird Rescue Research Center.

Workers were able to remove the dart, but took photos that showed the dart went all the way through the animal's head.

Several months ago, another goose was also found pierced with a dart.

"It's a really unseemly side of humanity, the ugly side of humanity," Bellizzi said. "If someone's going to do this to a goose, what are they going to do to a cat or a dog?"

The Humane Society of the U.S. is offering a $2,500 reward for the capture of the person responsible. The group wants to send a clear message that animal cruelty is a felony.
