FBI Investigates Threat To Shoot Orlando Officers
Recently, Local 6 aired video that showed Jessica Asprilla, 27, being pushed down some steps by Officer Fernando Trinidad, who was working off duty at the now-defunct Club Paris in downtown Orlando.Asprilla was charged with battery on the officer after the incident. However, once prosecutors saw the video, the charges were dropped. Some were outraged after seeing the controversial video, especially after it gained national attention.Asprilla said she was once again interviewed by officers but this time about a threatening letter that surfaced, saying if Trinidad was not fired, other officers would be shot.Asprilla denied any involvement and even offered to take a polygraph test, Local 6's Erik von Ancken reported."They think they can get away with anything and the law doesn't apply to them," Asprilla's Attorney Adam Sudbury said. "And even if they are caught doing something, they are not going to get punished for it."Some OPD officers, who spoke on a condition of anonymity, said leaders pointed fingers at some officers who they believe are disgruntled, von Ancken reported. The group is the undercover drug unit disbanded by police Chief Val Demings soon after she took the job.Local 6 learned that some former members of the drug unit have been contacted by the FBI and were told that their superiors thought they should be questioned about the threat. There is no current evidence linking any officers to the letter.Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.
