Citgo owner Maurice Noujaum said thieves who have hit his gas station in Orange County are not stereotypical criminals.

He said the criminals are coming to steal dressed up in business suits, Local 6's Jessica D'Onofrio reported.

"(They're) wearing business suits -- men and women," Noujaum said. "I mean you'd never think those people would do that kind of stuff and steal it."

As gas prices remain high, the crimes continue, Noujaum said.

"They don't call it gas anymore," he said. "They call it liquid gold"

Noujaum said he has hired someone to protect the pumps from thieves.

"They'll just give us a fake credit card and try to take off while I go in and run it," worker Robert Wice said.

Noujaum said the crimes are happening several times a week.

"You can't read them anymore," Noujaum said. "You don't know who is going to steal."

Recently, police said gas thieves targeted Central Florida rental trucks and even used a device to hack station pumps.

Casselberry police said they had never seen the device or technology used to steal gasoline in one instance.
