Police: Men Stole 554 Gallons Of Gas From Station Pump In 4-Hour Span

Men Charged Others For Gas, Police Say

POSTED: Thursday, May 8, 2008
UPDATED: 5:47 pm EDT May 8,2008

More than 550 gallons of gasoline valued at more than $2,000 was stolen by two men at a Central Florida gas pump over the span of four hours, and the men charged other customers to use the pump, police said.

The gas was stolen April 21 from Citgo gas station located at 3090 Michigan Ave. in Kissimmee.

An investigation revealed that the gas pump had been tampered with, damaging the unit responsible for counting and regulating the amount of gas dispersed, Kissimmee police said.

Two men were seen on surveillance video at the gas pump for nearly four hours, police said. The gas station owner told Kissimmee police that 554 gallons of gas were stolen.

During the time the men were at the pump, they are seen orchestrating about 25 or more vehicles to use the gas pump, police said. Kissimmee police said they believe that the men were charging other customers to use the tampered pump.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Kissimmee Police Department.
