A Central Florida student with a rare skin condition was suspended from school for his haircut.

Reymond Saldana. 18, was sent home from Gateway High School in Kissimmee days before his final exams after he said the school told him his Mohawk-like haircut was not acceptable.

Saldana has folliculitis, which is a skin condition that does not allow the teen to cut his hair too short -- especially in the middle of his head, the report said.

Saldana said he was not trying to make a fashion statement.

"It's not even like a Mohawk," Saldana said. "(I keep my hair short) because of the condition of my head. It is called folliculitis and it is a medical condition."

Saldana had a biopsy performed on his head Thursday and doctors injected steroids into his scalp and then stitched him up, Local 6's Adam Longo reported.

Saldana takes six pills every morning for his condition.

"It is like, ahhh," Saldana said. "You just want to explode."

Saldana's mother said she has been fighting to keep her son in school.

Saldana received a doctor's note about the condition and why his hair is longer in the middle of his head.

An Osceola County school official said Saldana's suspension will be lifted because of the medical note.
