DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Two men were charged with pummeling a man with a beer bottle for an order of pizza and chicken wings, according to police.
Investigators said a fast-food restaurant delivery man was at the Morristown apartment complex located on Clyde Morris Boulevard in Daytona Beach when he was ambushed.
A short time after the crime, Brian Smith and Maurice Hinson were taken into custody.
A witness told police that Smith and Hinson told her that they were up to no good before they allegedly attacked Elwood Drake.
"They were fixing to do something bad, do a crime or something," the woman said.
Other delivery restaurants were on alert Sunday after the attack.
"With the way the economy is and things are getting bad and people needing money, there is an easy way to get it," a worker told Local 6's Jessica Sanchez.
Smith and Hinson were charged with armed robbery.
Hinson is also facing car burglary with battery charges.
Both remain in the Volusia County Jail Sunday.
