SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. -- A woman fought off a 6-foot 10-inch man who attacked her from behind on a Central Florida beach while her preschool-age child watched, police said.Police said John Patrick Fabian, 46, of Melbourne, was arrested in Indian Harbour Beach on Tuesday and faces false imprisonment and sexual battery charges after he assaulted the woman on Satellite Beach near Magellan Avenue at about 3:15 p.m.The woman bit and kicked, and Fabian fled, police said.Fabian was traced to a wooded area near the border of Satellite Beach and Indian Harbour Beach, Cmdr. Brad Hodge of the Satellite Beach Police Department told Local 6 News partner Florida Today.Fabian also faces charges of child abuse, stalking and loitering and prowling.The aviation unit of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and the Indian Harbour Beach Police Department were also involved in the hunt for the alleged perpetrator.Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.
