ORLANDO, Fla. -- A Local 6 News photographer is being credited with saving an Orlando man's life after alerting him that his home was on fire and imploring him to get out.
Tee Taylor was driving by a duplex on Lake Dot Circle near Amway Arena at about 7:30 a.m. after he dropped his son off at school.
"I saw smoke rising between these two buildings here and just thought it was kind of odd," Taylor said.
After discovering the duplex was on fire, Taylor checked inside while another witness called 911.
Bruce Gillis, who did not know his home was on fire, was in an upstairs bathroom taking a shower when Taylor banged on his front door.
"Please come on out! Come on out, please!" Taylor shouted to anyone inside.
"All of a sudden, I hear things exploding and popping and smoke starts coming into the shower, and I'm trying to get all of the soap and shampoo off of me," Gillis said.
"(Taylor) did a wonderful job," Orlando fire Lt. Patrick Gallagher said. "Having somebody that had the maturity to stop and recognize there was a problem and be able to get people alerted -- I think he saved the other gentleman's life."
Gillis' three dogs were also saved from the fire.
Investigators with the Orlando Fire Department's Arson-Bomb Squad asked to view video showing flames shooting through a window that Taylor was able to capture after getting Gillis out.
Because of burglaries in the area, officials said they are investigating to see if an arsonist caused the fire.
