Wendy Saltzman
Saltzman was honored with the "Story of the Year" by Orlando Magazine in 2002 for a hidden camera investigation of the Lynx Transportation Agency. The story took her and the Problem Solvers team to Las Vegas where they uncovered public officials gambling during a tax-payer funded junket. Saltzman was nominated for an Emmy and gained state-wide recognition for her reporting. Saltzman's investigations focus primarily on public waste and political corruption. She also reports on medical malpractice and education issues. Saltzman broke the investigaiton which uncovered thousands of fire safety violations in area schools, which resulted in a complete overhaul of the system. She began her career in television in 1996, working at the CBS Network News as an associate producer for "The Evening News with Dan Rather." While Saltzman was at the network, she helped produce an Emmy-nominated "CBS Evening News" broadcast at the trial of Oklahoma City Bomber Timothy McVeigh. Saltzman moved to Central Florida from Grand Rapids, Mich., where she was the lead investigative reporter for CBS affiliate WWMT-TV. She was awarded "Best Hard News" reporter and "Best Series" by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters, and was also honored by the Michigan Associated Press for her investigative and enterprise reporting. Saltzman has a pre-law degree from the University of Chicago. She is a Native Texan who likes to run and play soccer in her free time. In 2000, she ran a marathon in Dublin, Ireland, for the Leukemia Society.
