WINTER GARDEN, Fla. -- Winter Garden police on Tuesday said they have garnered numerous tips in the shooting death of a teen at a graduation party by using Web sites like MySpace.
Diamond Hill, 17, was fatally shot at the Amazon Restaurant and Lounge located on Dillard Street in Winter Garden at about 12:30 a.m. Friday. Witnesses said 10 shots were fired in the club and one of the bullets struck Hill in the chest.
Witnesses helped Winter Garden police develop a composite sketch of the shooter, but no arrests have been made.
Police said witnesses who may not want to talk to them have been chatting about the shooting online.
Several of the Hill's friends have posted messages on MySpace, with some even singling out the possible gunman, Local 6 News reported.
"We have to go find these people, talk to them (and) either validate is that information real, is it fabricated (or) is it just rumors?" Winter Garden police Sgt. Keith Ralston said. "A lot of times, the MySpace -- and these types of blog -- entries are valuable investigative tools."
Anyone with information about the shooter is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
