A unique dodgeball-like game in El Salvador is taking extreme sports to a new level, according to a Local 6 News report.
The annual fireball celebration in Nejapa features a play-at-your-own-risk game where residents throw balls set on fire at each other in what resembles a game of dodgeball gone awry.
After dark, two groups of primarily young men, team up against each and throw balls that have been soaked in gasoline for three months at each other.
Most of the participants wear thick gloves during the game.
As the crowd calls out, the men hurl the balls not just at each other but at members of the crowd as well.
There have never been any serious injuries in the event, according to the report.
Another part of the celebration is the traditional dance of the speckled bull. A local resident picks up a bull packed with fireworks and runs through the crowd as rockets and sparks shoot out.
The celebration has taken place for ten years.
