Man Who Drove Into Altamonte Mall Found Not Guilty By Insanity

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- A Seminole County man who drove his car into the Altamonte Mall and dropped from the second floor to the first floor at 35 mph was found not guilty on Monday by reason of insanity.
Adam Kahin, 20, was charged with felony criminal mischief after the December 2006 crash.
Kahin, who has been staying in a mental facility, told Altamonte Springs officers the night of the crash that he was suicidal. He will remain in the facility, Local 6 News reported.
No one other than Kahin was injured in the crash, which happened Dec. 11, 2006, at about 10:30 p.m.
According to police, Kahin drove his Mitsubishi Lancer through a mall corridor and down an escalator to the first floor.
