'Pepe Is Coming Home,' Rodriguez Says
"I've been working on it day and night and I've barely slept and I haven't eaten a thing," Naomi Rodriguez said.Several days ago, a thief broke into Rodriguez's Orlando home and stole her eight puppies and favorite parrot, Pepe.Rodriguez said after she spray painted, "In God We Trust -- Return My Pets" and posted a $2,500 reward message on her home she received tips in the case."I got a tip from a person who said they saw it on channel 6 news and called me," Rodriguez said.The tip led the woman to a Motel 6 located on Lee Road, where guests said they spotted someone selling the bird and puppies in the parking lot.Rodriguez was then led to an Altamonte Springs pet store where she found animals that looked exactly like her pets."Are you sure that's him," Local 6's Mike DeForest asked Rodrguez in a pet store after spotting a pet bird."I'm positive, I'm positive," a crying Rodriguez said.Rodriguez said she became a pet detective to find her animals."I put two and two together and cracked the case," Rodriguez said. "Pepe is now going to be coming home."The pet store owner said he purchased the animals on consignment said someone brought them in claiming their children were allergic to the animals.Police said the pet store owner is a victim.Investigators said they are trying to positively identify the pets.No arrests have been made, but detectives are following up on leads in the case.Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.
