24 Neighborhood Cats Mysteriously Vanish; Video Shows Lurking Animal

ORLANDO, Fla. -- An apparent wild coyote caught lurking on videotape may be to blame for 24 pet cats that have mysteriously vanished from a neighborhood near the Orlando Executive Airport.

A former Orlando Executive Airport worker shot video of an animal darting across an airport tarmac in the location where the cats have vanished."You don't want things to eat your pets," homeowner Leah Smith said.Tuesday, a mail carrier passed out fliers about the missing cat Tuesday night. She said all of the missing pets are on her route.The missing animals have some homeowners on edge, Local 6 reported."Our older cats stay indoors now," Smith said. "The kittens don't roam around but we do check everyday to make sure we've got everybody back on the front porch."Smith said she has lost two cats within the last few months.Several neighbors have seen an apparent coyote from a distance. They said the animal also looked like a big feral dog, Local 6's Adam Longo said.Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.
