Rats as large as softballs have invaded a Central Florida neighborhood, eating through home walls and screens.

"It's uncomfortable, very uncomfortable -- that's how my life has been," resident Bob Huck said.

The invasion of rats have apparently been coming from a nearby abandoned home in Casselberry. The home has an overgrown backyard.

Local 6 showed video of holes rodents have chewed in walls and insulation.

"(The rats) are huge," David Fulton said. "They're round like that (softball size)."

"Now, they are in my house and eating through screens and biting through walls," Huck said. "We've never had a rat problem and we've been here six years. I'm sure if we quit mowing our grass, someone would be on our butts to make it clean."

Huck and Fulton are now setting out poison pellets and traps, calling it an emergency situation.

Also, the city said Monday night that one of their contractors will mow the lawn of the abandoned home next week.
