OCALA, Fla. -- An outbreak of diseases is forcing an animal services facility to close for several days and euthanize many dogs.
Veterinarians said they discovered canine flu, distemper, parvo and other diseases running rampant among dogs at the animal services shelter in Ocala.
The shelter must be closed from Thursday through Saturday for cleaning.
Workers must also euthanize more than 80 dogs over the outbreak.
There are no adoptions or drop offs at the facility now, Local 6 reported.
Animal services said they think that the outbreak stemmed from the high number of unvaccinated animals that have entered the facility recently.
