MARION COUNTY, Fla. -- A Central Florida teacher's aide was arrested on suspicion of committing sex acts on two teen boys and helping them run away from home.
Marion County sheriff's deputies said Richard Carlsen, a Howard Middle School teacher, mentored two brothers, ages 15 and 17, for years and often took them on out-of-town trips.
Carlsen, 36, of Ocala, was charged with unlawful sex acts with a minor and interference with child custody.
The boys' mother suspected Carlsen was involved after the boys were missing, deputies said.
She also said Carlsen bought the older brother an expensive ring.
Deputies said Carlsen admitted to performing a sex act on the 17-year-old boy.
Carlsen bonded out of jail.
Carlsen will likely be fired from his teaching position, school district officials said.
Deputies said Carlsen has also been a private mentor to four other boys recently and several others in the past.
