Police said the charter bus was traveling about 60 mph on state Road 408 near Pine Hills Road in Orlando Thursday when the Nicolas Steven Stilwell hit the road.

"One of the passengers leaned over to speak to the driver, the door came open and he fell out into the roadway," Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Mauric Vilsaint said.

He was actually sucked out of the bus at speeds of 60 mph, Local 6's Erick Webber reported.

Troopers said a group inside the bus was from Ocala and had rented the bus from AP Limousine for someone's birthday party.

Officers said there may have been drinking, but no laws were broken.

"Special buses are made to where you can consume alcoholic beverages just like an recreational vehicle," Vilsaint.

Partygoers were shocked over the incident.

"They were pretty upset, I'm not going to lie to you," Vilsaint said.

Stilwell remains hospitalized.

The incident is being investigated.
