APOPKA, Fla. -- A Central Florida woman who was surprised by three armed men after they kicked in a door to her home said she prayed out loud until the invaders left her alone.
"She has very good faith and I think in talking to her and she was talking about praying," victim's son Ron Lane said. "I think that is what got her through."
Investigators said three masked bandits carrying guns barged into Sheryl Lane's home located in the 2500 block of Sweetwater County Club Drive in Apopka and ripped a phone from her hands.
They then tied Lane up with neckties and ransacked her home, police said.
During the crime, the victim told officers that she said prayers out loud until she was left alone, Local 6's Mike DeForest reported.
The men later left the home after the Lane's friend called her back. The ring probably spooked the bandits, Orange County sheriff's Sgt. John Meagher said.
A bloodhound later tried to track their trail but didn't go far, and deputies said the trio likely got into a vehicle and drove off.
Lane was not injured in the attack.
No neighbors spotted the men leaving the area even though the crime happened in broad daylight Wednesday.
"I couldn't believe it could happen in this neighborhood," the victim's son said.
