SANFORD, Fla. -- A dump truck driver was killed Thursday morning when the truck burst into flames after it crossed a median and crashed into a tree near Sanford, authorities said.Wilson Smith, 57, of Sanford, was driving northbound on East Lake Mary Road near Brisson Avenue at about 6:50 a.m. when the truck, for an unknown reason, crossed the median and other lanes of traffic and struck the tree, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.Smith was trapped inside the burning dump truck and died at the scene, troopers said.Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.
