Mother Wants Out Of Jail To Help Investigators Find Missing Daughter
Attorney Asking For Bond Tuesday
Casey Anthony, 22, was taken into custody Wednesday after detectives determined her daughter had been missing since early June and was never reported missing.Monday, Anthony's attorney said by letting the woman out of jail, she can help find the girl."We want to find Caylee," Anthony family attorney Jose Baez said. "I have had in-depth and long conversations with my client and she has asked to help cooperate. She wants to cooperate."Baez would not say what it is that he learned that leads him to believe that a release could help lead to Caylee's return, Local 6's Tony Pipitone reported.Baez also described Anthony's situation in jail during a Monday news conference."They have put her in a situation that is very difficult -- extremely difficult," Baez said. "They've put a psych hold on her where she has been stripped of her bedding. Her underwear has been taken from her. She is in a cell in protective custody. All she has is basically a blanket in a small room."Baez will ask Circuit Judge Stan Strickland to grant bond."In all of research I've uncovered, I've never seen anyone denied bail with no prior criminal history with these sets of facts," Baez said.Casey Anthony is charged with child neglect and a few misdemeanors -- charges that would normally produce a bond of about $7,500, Local 6's Tony Pipitone reported.
Family: Daughter Can Help
Meanwhile, family members are also pushing for Anthony's release from jail Tuesday, saying she could be valuable in the search.Family members said they still believe Caylee's mystery baby sitter named Zenaida Gonzalez had something to do with her disappearance.Investigators are questioning whether the woman exists, Local 6 reported. The girl's grandmother said she has never met the baby sitter but has heard stories about her for years.Casey Anthony said she dropped her daughter off at the baby sitter's apartment on June 9. But when she returned, she said the baby sitter and Caylee were missing. When detectives returned to the apartment last week, they discovered the apartment has been vacant for months and that no one named Zenaida lived there. Also, Casey Anthony has never described how they could find Zenaida, Local 6's Mike DeForest reported."I trust Casey wholeheartedly that where Casey says she is, is where she is," Cindy Anthony said. "I think Casey had every intention of picking up Caylee from the baby sitter on June 9 but when she found out that the baby sitter was reluctant, or refused or said, 'You are not getting her back,' Casey panicked." Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of Caylee is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS. Watch Local 6 News for more on this developing story.
