Woman Sues Over Hotel Bedbug Bites
'I'm Going To Have (Scars) For Rest Of Life,' Woman Says
Kimberly Deroche, 38, said she checked into a Rodeway Inn International on International Drive and woke up the next morning covered in bedbug bites."I'm going to have them for the rest of my life," Deroche said. "I don't wear shorts and I don't wear bathing suits because people will have questions."Because of the scars and sores -- which she showed in photos taken during her hotel stay in 2006 -- she has filed a lawsuit in Orlando circuit court. No one is commenting on the case, but a representative for the ownership told the Orlando Sentinel newspaper that bedbugs are a problem at every hotel and that it's industry-wide and not related to cleanliness. The woman's attorney disagrees."It's an increasing problem, but bedbugs are not in every hotel and I think that an absurd statement to make," attorney Woody Igou said.Igou said he is going to court to clean up what he calls a disgusting problem, Local 6 reported. Also, an Orlando man is joining in on the lawsuit after he said he had a similar experience at a Clearwater Days Inn.Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.
