FBI Talks With Missing Girl's Grandmother; Mystery Letter Being Written
Daughter 'Not A Murderer,' Says Missing Girl's Grandmother
"I think it went very well," grandmother Cindy Anthony said during a nationally televised interview. "It's always good to know that there is more people looking for Caylee. I mean that's our whole focus, to find Caylee."Anthony recently said she thinks she knows what happened to her granddaughter, Caylee."It's making sense," Cindy Anthony said. "I've been saying over and over again, pieces are starting to come together."But Orange County sheriff's Deputy Carlos Padilla said Cindy Anthony has not shared her theories with detectives."What we want to say to her and to rest of the family is please share the information with us, anybody," Padilla said. "I know I don't know (where Caylee is). I just met with the detectives this afternoon and they didn't say anything about her having any information that right now would help us locate Caylee any quicker."Detectives are still talking with people who could be involved in the child's disappearance, Local 6 has learned."It is frustrating," Padilla said. "We still feel that the key lies with Casey and if she would just open up and just tell us where Caylee is, this could very well end quickly."The Anthonys said Casey thinks the sheriff's office is building a case against her and that she doesn't trust them. However, Padilla said they've been so busy, they have not had time to do anything like build a case, Local 6's Erik von Ancken reported."(Casey) has given them as much information as she feels comfortable that she can say without jeopardizing the safety of Caylee and her family," Cindy Anthony said. Also, Padilla said there is still nothing to indicate that a baby sitter Casey claims had her daughter exists.
Friend: 'Casey Didn't Hurt Child'
Meanwhile, Holly Gagne, one of Caylee's former babysitters and a family friend, said she doesn't think Casey could injure her daughter."I don't believe she has hurt her child or been a part of that," Gagne said. "She feels like all they've done is focus on Casey, Casey, Casey. She feels like it's been tunnel vision."Gagne also said that Cindy Anthony has expressed frustration with the Orange County Sheriff's Office but was excited about the latest developments."When I spoke to her today, she was so excited about the FBI and speaking with them," Gagne said. "She felt this was a huge, positive step."Letter Could Have Crucial Information
Also Thursday, a new jailhouse call was released to the public from Casey Anthony to her brother, Lee.Lee Anthony inquired about a letter Casey said she's been preparing since Saturday that could contain crucial information."How is the, um, that letter coming?" Lee Anthony asked."Well, when I get a chance to write a little bit more, I should be able to do that within the next little bit because I have some quote rec time," Casey Anthony said.Attorney Blasts Report
Anthony's attorney Jose Baez blasted a report while on Nancy Grace when she said Deputy Carlos Padilla had reported that Baez asked for immunity for Anthony, Local 6 reported."The police have just leaked one thing after another," Baez said. "I don't know. Carlos Padilla wasn't there."'Who To Trust?'
Also, Anthony was asked by her brother, Lee, during an earlier jailhouse phone call who he can trust in the search for Caylee. The call lasted more than three minutes, and was made public on Wednesday night."How is everything going?" Casey Anthony said to begin the call."It's going OK," Lee Anthony said. "How's everything going with you?""Good," Casey Anthony said. "Just took a shower and I figured I'd call and check in, say hi, since I got a chance to see mom and dad this morning.""OK," Lee Anthony said.Lee then tried to get information from his sister."I know there's some, you know, some people that referred to in the past, and you know, I'm just curious if, um, you know, anything has changed as far as who I can trust and all those type of things," Lee Anthony said."I mean as far as I'm concerned, nothing's really changed on that level," Casey Anthony said. "So, if anything does, I'll obviously let you know."The call was dropped during the conversation. But before it was dropped, Lee Anthony had one final thought."If there's ever anything particularly that I should look into or attempt to follow up on…""Yeah, I'll definitely let you know if things come up," Casey Anthony said. "If anything does (come up) at all."Anthony's co-counsel Mike Walsh told Local 6 that it's hard on her not to be able to give her family what could be critical information about the whereabouts of her daughter."It's extremely frustrating," Walsh said. "The only people she can speak openly with are her defense lawyers. As long at it's a criminal investigation of Casey, then Casey has to watch what she says."Mag Gives Insight Into Mother
A national magazine is giving more insight into who Casey Anthony is and what her relationship is like with her mother.Friends of the 22-year-old shared their stories with People magazine for a cover story. In the article, friends said, "She would complain about her mother and how she was trying to run her life. But then a few days later, she'd say how much she loved her mother and father."A friend who has known Anthony since middle school describes her as "immature and strange at times."The friend also said she is always surrounded by drama, according to the article.Club Photos Surface
Photos showing Casey Anthony smiling with friends at an Orlando lounge apparently five days after the child was last seen by her grandmother have raised new questions about when Caylee disappeared.A photographer snapped the photos showing Casey Anthony at the Fusian Lounge in Orlando on June 20 -- which is five days after missing Caylee Anthony was last seen by her grandmother."She was not partying any harder or less than anybody else would but she was at the medium," John Azzilona said. "She didn't seem belligerently drunk or anything like that, she was just out."Also, about four days after the photos were taken, one of Anthony's friends said he heard Caylee in the background of a phone call.A national search continues for the missing girl.Watch Local 6 News for more on this developing story.Watch Local 6 News for more on this developing story.
