PALM BAY, Fla. -- At least 10 vehicles were disabled after drivers purchased tainted gasoline at a Brevard County gas station, police said.
All of the motorists purchased the gas from Kangaroo Express, located at the corner of Minton Road and Malabar Road Southeast in Palm Bay on Monday afternoon.
According to Palm Bay police, an officer stopped to assist a motorist stranded on the side of a road near the gas station at about 1:15 p.m. While assisting the stranded driver, several other vehicles ended up disabled in the same area, police said.
"The store just received a shipment at around 12:30 today," Palm Bay police Sgt. Jim Richmond said. "It looks like the fuel may have had excess water in the tank, but the store managers will have to contact the supplier to confirm."
Officers contacted management of the gas station, and they volunteered to shut off all pumps until they could determine the source of the problem, police said.
