APOPKA, Fla. -- Three roaming Rottweilers attacked a 69-year-old woman, mauling her so badly she had to undergo surgery.
Witnesses said the dogs were moving around Orange Street and Grove Street in Apopka as a pack before the woman was attacked.
A friend of the owner of the dogs, Terry Bryas, said the incident is out of character for the pets.
"I never (knew) these dogs to bite or harm anyone," Terry Bryas said. "They always have their tails wagging."
Local 6 reported that at least one of the dogs has a history of violence.
A dog named Roxy was declared a dangerous dog last year by animal control.
The dogs' owners are currently out of town at a wedding.
The dogs are in animal control custody. They'll be quarantined for 10 days while animal control investigators contact the owners and decide if any of the animals should be euthanized.
The woman was expected to survive the attack.
