UPDATED: 9:35 am EDT August 11, 2008

A driver accused of trying to hit officers four times during a chase was taken into custody Sunday night.

Police said Antonio Knight, 19, was initially pulled over on Lipscompe Street in Melbourne in a rental car for a license plate check.

During the stop, Knight drove away and led officers on a 12-minute chase through Brevard County, officers said.

Police used stop-sticks to end the chase and Knight was taken into custody.

Officers said he tried to flee on foot but was spotted a few blocks away.
