The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down in Barefoot Bay Tuesday afternoon.

The twister damaged 51 homes, including nine that were completely destroyed.

The 4-foot gator was spotted walking near the damaged homes after the tornado, a Brevard County news released reported. It was not known how the alligator made it to the location.

Barefoot Bay resident Frank Amoretti reported seeing the tornado touch down in the area, near Brown Road and Puffin Drive west of U.S. 1 in Brevard County.

"I saw the swirling and stuff and there was a lot of debris and everything," resident Frank Amoretti said. "As quick as it came in, it looked like it went right back up. It looks like part of a house or part of a roof and a couple of carports and a lot of aluminum and insulation and construction barricades from Mico Road."

Two people were injured in connection with the twister.
