Rain bands from Gustav moved through Central Florida Sunday adding to the water woes of some residents in Sanford.

Lake Monroe in Sanford is overflowing its banks and submerging streets in nearby neighborhoods.

The flood waters have pushed fish into streets and yards in some communities.

"There are problems with the high water that people are not aware of," flood victim Sarah Jacobsen said. "One is the threat of gators and snakes and the other is huge swarms of buzzards that come to feast on the fish that flow up onto your yard."

Homeowners used piles of dirt to make walls to protect their homes during Sunday's storms.

Lake Monroe is expected to crest in the next few days.

Officials urged residents to evacuate if the water continued to rise and move into their homes.
