Florida Highway Patrol troopers are searching for at least four motorists who stuffed their pockets with nickels spilled seconds after a fatal U.S. Treasury big rig crash.

Nearly $200,000 worth of nickels were scattered along Interstate 95 between Mims and Scottsmoor Wednesday when the rig collided with another vehicle.

"It's shiny across the roadway," Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Kim Miller said after the crash. "There are nickels in the grass, across the interstate."

It's estimated there were 4 million nickels thrown around the crash scene and off the road.

So far, troopers have recovered $300 in nickels removed from the scene. However, they said they are searching for more looters.

There are cameras on the stretch of I-95 that may have videotaped some of the people who removed the coins, Local 6 has learned.

Troopers said they are looking for anyone who cashed in on the crash.

The nickels were en route from the U.S. mint in Philadelphia to the Federal Reserve Bank in Miami.

A security guard riding in the vehicle was killed in the crash and others were injured.

A portion of the road remained closed for most of the day after the crash.
