'Obama' Heroin Appears On Pa. Streets
Ring Operated Out Of Home With McCain Signs
The packets of drugs apparently circulating the streets of Edwardsville, Kingston and Wilkes-Barre had stamps that read, "Obama '09.""I've never seen a stamp like that before," said Frank Noonan, an official with the state Bureau of Narcotics, Investigation and Drug Control department.Police took five people into custody in connection with the heroin distribution ring. The Kingston police chief, Keith Keiper, said a neighbor tipped him off about the residence on Ross Street. Keiper's home was located near the alleged drug operation."I was walking my dog in the neighborhood and a neighbor came up to me and said there is a lot of activity at this residence and I passed it on to our unit and started the investigation," Keiper said. "So, this is how it all came about -- from neighbors talking."A neighbor said she was surprised over the arrests."I didn't know that it was that close," the woman told WBRE-TV. "That is too close for comfort for me. I mean there are little kids around here. I'm very surprised."Police said the group sold about $10,000 worth of "Obama" heroin a week from the home on Ross Street.
