OCOEE, Fla. -- A search is under way for a driver who hit and killed a man and then left him on a dark portion of a busy Central Florida road.
A passerby made the discovery after swerving to miss the body in the dark road early Tuesday on Highway 50 at Clarke Road in Ocoee near the West Oaks Mall.
Police said the vehicle that hit the victim has front end damage.
"If someone sees a neighbor at what ever time this is -- at approximately 4 a.m. -- and they're washing their car off, that may be something to tip them off that it is not normal for someone to be washing their car off at 4 a.m. and they can give us a call and we can investigate" Ocoee police Officer Eric Collado said.
Police said they are not sure what type of vehicle hit the victim.
Officers said the victim was in his 30s or early 40s. He was apparently not in the road long because the road is so heavily traveled, police said.
