Crowds of women are competing for spots in a new controversial Lingerie Football League that will feature 7-on-7 tackle football games in several states.

The Lingerie Football League started as a pay-per-view, counter-programming stunt during the halftime of the Super Bowl. Now, it has grown into a complete 10-team indoor league.

Local 6 showed video of groups of women trying out for the league's newest team, the Seattle Mist, in Green Lake Park.

Several workers in the area filled the bleachers to watch the tryouts.

Women who make the team will make more than $40,000 per year, according to the league's creator, Mitch Mortazza.

The Seattle Mist hopes to play at Key Arena at the Seattle Center, which was once home to the Seattle SuperSonics.

"We're going to chat-up our new fan club," player Christine Merklinghaus said. "(The spectators) have been on a two-hour lunch break at 10 a.m."

Local 6 reported that there are teams slated for Florida -- The Tampa Breeze and the Miami Caliente.
